Welcome to Kingfisher Ramblers
Welcome to Kingfisher Ramblers - we extend a warm welcome to everyone wishing to walk with us.
I have set up this site a model for a Group website that is very simple to set up and is easy to maintain. Several groups have sites based on this template; some have customised it further while others have kept it simple. See:
- Sandwell Ramblers
- Shrewsbury Ramblers
- Wolverhampton Ramblers
- Biddulph Ramblers
- Stone Ramblers
- Redditch Ramblers
- Bromsgrove Ramblers
- Market Drayton Ramblers
It recognises that many Groups are struggling to find enough walk leaders, and provides a very simple way to bring together the walks from your neighbouring groups into a common list. Furthermore, a very simple interface shows walks for a given day of the week, a function very popular with those who want to walk in the week and need to see what walks sre available locally.
Another major benefit is its support for managing emails to your members, through a component designed to fit in with the way that groups work, rather than a marketing tool. This is called MailMan, and has a built-in interface to the Insight Hub. Each month you can simply download a csv file and import it into MailMan. New members will automatically be added and lapsed members deleted. Any member who has an email address they don't want to give to Central Office can register themselves, or be added manually. You can create sub lists, for example for Committee Members or Walk Leaders.
If you run a social programme, there is support for that too by creating Events. These can be if different types, such as Social events, Holidays. A small "Diary dates" modules summarises them on the front page and provides intuitive access to the full details. Optionally you can allow members to book onto these Events, or even share them with another group!
