We are excited to announce that our next weekend away to Upper Hulme, in the Peak District is now live!

This trip is being run by Get Your Boots On, a Young Ramblers group aimed at people in their 20s and 30s. Weekends away are a great opportunity to explore a new area and enjoy beautiful hikes, while socialising with like minded people in this age bracket. Therefore we will be opening up our weekend away solely for our paid GYBO members for the first week, and will then open it up to other Ramblers members. This means when signing up, your Ramblers membership must be assigned to GYBO.

Please read the following details carefully: 

Walks

Friday: Travel down and option to attend a short walk (approx. 6 miles) around the famous Mam Tor on the way to Upper Hulme.

Saturday and Sunday: Full details TBC, but we are planning to have two full day walks for Saturday and Sunday, which are likely to be moderate / strenuous and roughly 10+ miles. One of the days we will explore the stunning Roaches ridge line, Hen Cloud and Lud’s Church, right on our doorstep from the Bunkhouse.

Monday: Option to visit Chatsworth House and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the gardens.

Food

Over the 3 nights we are looking to arrange a pizza night, a meal at a local pub and a BBQ. Details for food will be confirmed nearer the time.

Accommodation

The Roaches Bunkhouse, Upper Hulme Nr Leek, ST13 8TY

We have booked sole use of the newly renovated Roaches Bunkhouse from Friday 28th August to Monday 31st August (three nights).

There is a mixture of dormitories of different sizes and a lounge area for socialising as well as a fully equipped kitchen. For further details please check out their website: https://www.roachesbunkhouse.com/peak-lodge 

Parking is limited so we highly recommend car sharing. Once we have the names of attendees, we can discuss this within the group.

Booking Details 

The three-night trip will cost £134 per person and is only open to paid members of the Ramblers. Initially it will be open to GYBO members only and is on a first-come, first-served basis, so please book early to avoid disappointment. After 1 week, the remaining places will then become available to other Ramblers members.

To request a place, please email Ellen and Amy at info@gybo.org.uk and include your name and membership number. Your place will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

If the weekend gets fully booked and you are still interested in attending, please contact Ellen or Amy so we can pop you on a reserve list.

Cancellations: Unfortunately, refunds cannot be guaranteed unless someone is able to take your place.

Please note that dogs are unable to attend our weekends away.
