TitleCroquet at Polesden Lacey - Booking Required
OrganiserFiona S.
Description

One of our members, Colin Elwood, is kindly organising a friendly game of croquet on the lawns at Polesden Lacey. Equipment will be provided. The cost will be approximately £5 per person, payable in cash on the day, plus the entrance fee if you are not already a National Trust Member.

There will be a 6.5 mile walk beforehand during the morning, to which all our welcome. You might then wish to picnic or lunch together at the National Trust cafe.

The croquet is limited to 16 places, for which booking is required, see here: https://www.molevalleyramblers.org.uk/bookings.

If the booking sheet is full, and you would like to be put on a "reserves" list in case someone drops out nearer the time, please contact Colin by email at crelwood@virginmedia.com.

Please note: dogs are not allowed in the formal gardens at Polesden Lacey, nor the croquet lawns, but human spectators are welcome!

Croquet can be played in many different forms. Serious croquet is played at international level including world individual and team championships. Mostly though, it is played as a casual, social game by millions of peoples around the world in their own gardens. The rules allow for some variations and also for added complexity so that you can move from social garden croquet to more serious croquet. Colin will guide us through the basic rules on this occasion for what we hope will be an enjoyable and friendly afternoon.

LocationPolesden Lacey NT CP (display ticket, free to NT members). Meet in the Dairy Courtyard (ie just beyond the toilets and first coffee shop). For entry to the gardens and croquet lawns you will need to show your National Trust membership card or pay.
